IndiGo (with CAE)

The largest airline in India in terms of passengers carried, IndiGo is a low-cost airline headquartered in Gurgaon, India. With a primary hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the airline is the second largest low-cost airline in Asia and flies to 41 destinations with a fleet comprising of 119 Airbus A320 aircraft. For pilots attending an assessment with CAE, IndiGo utilises a complex computerised pilot aptitude test system known as CASS (CAE Aircrew Selection System) to assess both inexperienced and experienced pilots.

All pilot aptitude tests aim to assess the same key core skills required to complete pilot training successfully and/or operate an aircraft competently. The assessment of skills such as multi-tasking, spatial awareness, memory capacity, hand-to-eye coordination and mental arithmetic cannot necessarily be assessed within one test and therefore a pilot aptitude test is commonly separated in to a collection of tests, organised in to a battery and completed by the candidate in one sitting. The candidate is commonly provided with two attempts in which to complete this battery, enabling assessors to analyse improvement shown by the candidate.

For candidates being assessed by CAE on behalf of IndiGo, CAE utilises a complex computerised pilot aptitude test known as CASS (CAE Aircrew Selection System) in the assessment of experienced (direct-entry) and in-experienced (low hour or zero hour) pilots for recruitment in to the airline. We are aware that ATPL knowledge has also previously briefly been assessed by the airline during the recruitment of experienced pilots.
